Timothy Lee Vores, M.D., 70, Anderson, son of Allison U. and Imelda A. Vores, passed away March 18, 2018.
He was born April 30, 1947, in Anderson and was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He attended St. Mary School through the 12th grade and participated in baseball and track graduating in 1965. Tim entered Ball State University and graduated with his Pre Med degree in 1969. One month after graduation, he entered the US Army and served in Vietnam 19 months as a medic. He was awarded a Bronze Star Medal in 1970, and received recognition as Soldier of the Month in December of 1970 by 1st Calvary Division Air Mobile.
After completing his tour of duty in Vietnam, Tim entered medical school in Sardinia, Italy graduating from the School of Medicine at the University of Rome, Italy. While in Italy Tim taught English and appeared as an extra in two movies. He enjoyed the out-of-doors and was an avid gardener. He loved being a spectator of all sports, especially those involving his nieces and nephews at all area high schools. In recent years, Tim worked endlessly with the St. Mary High School Class Reunion Committee locating and updating alumni records from the years the high School existed, 1923 to 1966.
He is survived by his mother; siblings, Lawrence Vores, Charles (Dorothy) Vores, Nancy (Ronald) Bollman, Amy Sczesny, Nicholas M. Vores, Patricia (Mark) Hughes, Marjory (David) Irwin and many nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Tim was preceded in death by his father in 1978; sister-in-law, Sondra Vores; nephew, Edward Bollman.
The family wish to thank the medical staff of the Richard L. Roudebush V.A. Medical Center of Indianapolis for their endless, loving care and support.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church with Monsignor Robert Sell officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Daleville American Legion.
Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory.
Memorial contributions may be made to either the St. Mary Church Building Fund or The Holy Cross Schools of Anderson.
