Obituary for Thomas N. Moore

June 16, 1934 - August 27, 2019
Anderson, Indiana | Age 85

Thomas N. Moore has left his body and is now with his Lord. He was always fond of the phrase: "Absent From His Body Present with the Lord". He was reunited with his precious wife of 60 years, Dorothy Catherine Smith Moore and his beloved daughter, Laura Lynn Hoskins in heaven. He was also reunited with his loving parents, John and Mary Moore and his brother John.
He is survived by his daughters, Catherine Moore, Paula Wayton and Lisa Benefiel (Tom). He was blessed with seven grandchildren, Adam Benefiel (Lucy), Alex Upton (Mason), Shane and Connor Wayton, Seth, Jesse and Tyler Hoskins; 2 great-grandchildren, Ruthie and Reid Benefiel; Son-in-law, Brian Hoskins; Nephews, Roger Moore (Jenna) and Mark Smith; Nieces, Joanna Horrigan and Carol Frey and all of their families.
Tom was a loving devoted husband and wonderful father to his 4 girls. None of his daughters could have ever asked for a better father. He taught them respect, to work hard, to know family is the biggest blessing God could ever bestow on anyone and to recognize and accept the gift of Faith.
He resided in Anderson for his entire life with the exception of the 2 years he spent serving in the US Navy stationed in Pensacola, Florida. He was a lifelong member of Chesterfield Christian Church for over 70 years and was extremely proud and honored to receive the title Elder Emeritus for all of his service to the church in multiple positions.
As Tom looked back he remembered all the great trips his family made from local state parks to locations all across the United States and Canada. He was always open to learning new things. He loved to argue. He and his mother used to take opposite sides of an argument just for the sake of debate. He loved to keep his mind sharp with current events.
He was raised in a different generation but always strived to keep an open mind to new ideas and expand his acceptance to this ever-changing world.
Tom Moore was a kind, big-hearted, generous man who was loved by all. Many people wonder if they made their small corner of the world better. If the joy and the love he gave is what creates a life well lived his life was a huge success and those of us who were lucky enough to know and love him will forever miss him. The world will be a sadder place but we were all blessed by his presence on this earth.
Services will be held Friday, August 30, 2019 at 1:00pm at Chesterfield Christian Church officiated by Ned Clark. Viewing will be held 11:00-1:00 pm at the church. Entombment will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
